Summer Drama Workshops Welcome to
Northbrook Theatre’s Summer Drama Workshops! If your child loves to act, sing
and dance, then this is the perfect activity for their summer vacation. However,
I do feel that it is necessary to point out to all parents/guardians and
potential participants that these are not mere summer camps. They are workshops.
And although they are recreational in scope, they are also educational. Their
purpose is to introduce participants to the wonderful world of Performing Arts.
As a result, daily attendance is mandatory. In the Drama
Workshops, participants spend their days engrossed in all aspects of Performing
Arts. An integrated course of study in music, dance and drama is the core
curriculum. Because it is my belief that the goal of any program in the
performing arts should be performance, each of the Drama Workshops culminate in
a final public performance to demonstrate the skills that the participants have
learned. Furthermore, our young
students of the theatre are involved in an activity that goes far beyond mere
diversion. The Workshop’s
highly trained and professional staff attempts to impart to each participant
that sense of dedication necessary to the achievement of artistic quality in
production. Every attempt is made to develop in them that sense of discipline,
hard work and responsibility performers must embrace when plying their trade. Our young actors are also introduced to and educated in the use of the vocal,
physical and emotional acting techniques that must be mastered to become stage
worthy. Most importantly, our staff goes that extra mile in imparting to our
young performers a feeling of self-confidence that is necessary to effectively
communicate before an audience. For
